In the wake of the Iso-8 outbreak, the superhero community is struggling to recover. Taking advantage of the chaos, supervillains have taken control of national security. Darkness reigns following these events that forever twist the fate of the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe. We need your help to create your own epic dream team using the most powerful heroes and most hated villains in the Marvel Universe!

Players assemble a team of three Marvel superheroes or supervillains based on different storylines and control the team against a team of up to three other superheroes or supervillains in three turn-based, turn-based battles. Each color-coded match deals damage to the player's opponent while creating action points that can earn special skills. Gems disappear and replenish from above during matches. When they match, the six colored gems on the board grant energy that can be used to perform special moves. Players swap hits back and forth until one of them is knocked down. When all enemies are down, the battle ends and the winner is rewarded with: one of the in-game currencies, a special boost, or a new character. This character can be added to your roster. If it is duplicated, it becomes an upgrade cover. Players earn points by winning battles and then applying the points to unlock new attacks and upgrades. The board is highly tactical, with up to six potential considerations in addition to the best match at any given point.

There are two main modes: a story mode and a multiplayer mode in which players can fight against other teams controlled by the game's artificial intelligence. The game is free, with the opportunity to purchase upgrades or new characters. New characters, Iso-8 bundles, Hero Gold, and other items can also be obtained by replaying old levels. As the player roster expands, so do the possibilities for team composition and skill selection.

Players collect in-game comic book covers to unlock new characters and improve existing ones. Each character has a set of real comic book covers associated with it, which represent the character's abilities and allow players to improve or upgrade them. in July 2014, Team-Ups were introduced, allowing players to fight using one-time abilities of characters that are not part of the player's team. The use of stars classifies characters into different classes. They range from the weakest one-star characters to the strongest and most powerful five-star characters.
